Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE]
LawDaftar ("we", "us") is operated by [LEGAL NAME OF PROPRIETOR / COMPANY], [ADDRESS], India. This policy explains what personal data we process when you use lawdaftar.in (the "Service") and how we protect it. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made under it.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and, when you verify it, your mobile number. Sign-in is handled by a secure sign-in service; we never see or store your password. If you choose "Sign in with Google", Google shares your name and email address with us.
- Documents you upload and what the Service produces from them: recognised text, translations, case briefs, Word and PDF files. These may contain personal data of your clients or other people. You decide what to upload.
- Usage and billing records: pages translated, briefs prepared, credits added and used, and the dates of these actions.
- Technical data: browser type, device and approximate location (city/state) derived from your network address, only if you accept analytics cookies.
Why we use it
To provide the Service (reading, translating and summarising your documents, document tools, court information), to keep your account secure, to manage your free allowance and paid credits, to answer support requests, and to improve the Service. We do not sell your data, and your documents are never used to train AI models, by us or by our service providers. We may use anonymous, aggregated statistics (for example, the number of pages translated in a month) to run and improve the Service; these never include your documents.
Where your documents are processed
- Your files and account data are stored on secure servers in India.
- Some processing may be carried out by our trusted service providers on servers outside India. They act only on our instructions, under contracts that protect your data, do not use it to train AI, and may keep it briefly only as needed to provide the service.
- By uploading a document you consent to this processing. If your matter requires that data never leaves India, please do not upload it.
How long we keep data
- Documents and everything produced from them are deleted automatically 30 days after upload. You can delete any document earlier with Delete now. Deleted files may remain in encrypted backups for a short period before permanent removal.
- Account, usage and billing records are kept while your account is active and as long as the law requires afterwards (for example, tax records).
- When you delete your account, your documents and account data are erased, except records we must keep by law.
Who can see your data
Only you, when signed in. We do not read or use your documents, unless you ask us to help with a particular one. Our trusted service providers for hosting, storage, document processing, payments and (only with your consent) website statistics act on our instructions. We disclose data to authorities only when Indian law requires it.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, or nominate someone to exercise your rights. Write to the Grievance Officer below. We respond within the time the law requires. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections and restricted access. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting you occurs, we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires.
Children
The Service is for legal professionals and is not meant for anyone under 18.
Cookies
- Essential cookies keep you signed in and protect forms. They are always on, because the Service cannot work without them.
- Analytics cookies (optional) help us understand how the website is used (for example, which pages are visited and the approximate city or state of visitors) so we can improve and develop LawDaftar. They are set only if you choose Accept on the cookie notice shown on your first visit. You can use the whole Service if you choose Decline.
- You can change your choice at any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
Your agreement
When you create an account, you are asked to agree to these Terms and this Privacy Policy, including how uploaded documents are processed. We record the date and the version you agreed to. If we make significant changes, we will ask you to agree again.
Changes
We will post changes here and, for significant changes, notify signed-in users.
